Lesson on Creativity

A seed cannot sprout on its own. Besides its own efforts, it needs sunlight, rain, soil, and air. The entire universe seems to collaborate to help a tiny seed sprout.

Therefore, for a dream to come true, besides our own efforts, we also need to be open and let the universe 'work' with us. This begins when we learn how to place pure wishes within ourselves so that the nature within us can do what nature does best: Create miracles!

Creativity means collaborating with nature.

Lesson on Failure

When planting a seed, no matter how much care and love a child gives, the seed might not sprout. This teaches the child a lesson on failure – that even with utmost care and love, not everything will bear fruit.

Instead of focusing on the result, focus on planting. A forest can start from a single seed, and a farmer never hopes for a bountiful harvest by planting just one seed.

Lesson about self-reliance

One of the most fundamental conditions of happiness is freedom. And when we can sow seeds, we can create our own food. And when we can be self-sufficient in food, we can have freedom.

Many seeds from Gieo have become fruit trees and are harvested by young children for family meals. If you cannot yet contribute money with your parents, you can bring your mother a cucumber or a bitter melon that you grew yourself.

Not stopping there…

There are many, many other good lessons that a child can discover on their own when observing a seed sprout. For example, to succeed, we need to start with healthy roots. Or that a tree grows to give away greenery, fresh air, and food for humans.

Therefore, it's not just simply replacing seeds with money for a lucky money activity; teachers have joined hands in sowing luck, dreams, and miracles in the hearts of each child. And who knows, those seeds of love will blossom in places we don't even know.

Planting Instruction

A – ACTIVITY CONTENT

• Teachers guide students to make their own seed lucky money envelopes to give to parents and relatives.
• A competition can be organized within the school. The students who make the most beautiful envelopes will receive small, lovely gifts, along with a certificate of participation.
• A Seed Lucky Money exhibition space can also be created during the spring festival for the most beautiful works.
• Schools can spread this activity to teachers and parents. When the children give lucky money, parents and teachers will also have self-made seed lucky money ready to give back to the children.
• After that, the school and family will join the children in planting the green sprouts carrying hope, luck, and happiness.

B – HOW TO IMPLEMENT

I – Materials to prepare

• Seeds
• Tools: Cardboard, scissors, ruler, pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener, glue, (double-sided) tape,paint 
• Print Gieo's brand identity and Seed Lucky Money materials: link

II – Implementing the activity

Step 1: Teachers share the meaning of Seed Lucky Money

Step 2: Teachers invite students to think of a wish for someone they love most and connect that wish with a type of seed. For example: White radish seeds symbolize health, or cucumber seeds symbolize joy. 

Step 3: Students write the wish on a piece of paper.

Step 4: Teachers guide students to decorate the lucky money envelopes illustrating the wish they have written.

In addition, teachers can take more beautiful photos of this event and share them with Gieo via Facebook or Zalo messages.

To make giving Seed Lucky Money more appealing, Gieo published the book Gieo's Story – The Legend of Seed Lucky Money in Tet 2020. The book is a 100-page full-color comic book telling the journey of King Ban in his quest to save the Chom Chom kingdom from the destruction of the Sui demon.

The story is a deeply humanistic work about the belief and love of people in the face of difficulties. It would be wonderful to tell this story to young children on the first days of spring.

Alongside storybooks, Gieo has also prepared a song so that teachers and students can listen to or sing along together. The song "Gieo Uoc Mo Xanh" (Sowing Green Dreams) was completed in November 2021 with music by musician Ninh Hai and lyrics by Ngoc Duc.

The song is a story full of dreams and hope for a new spring, when vitality is brimming in the seeds and then bursts into blossoms. The song will be very suitable to be sung at the beginning of spring when teachers and students are together giving and sowing seeds of love.
